Сохран каски по фотографии, геометрия не нарушена, свищей и трещин нет очень много родной краски .

На каске просматривается декаль пехотных подразделений Вермахт.

Каска модели 1940 года (M40) является следующей ступенью развития германских шлемов. Реалии начавшейся войны и ощутимая нехватка ресурсов вынудили германское руководство производить шлемы с более низкой себестоимостью. Производство шлемов модели М40 было более технологично, чем производство предыдущей модели М35. Для каски М40 характерны, так же как и для М35, завальцованные края основания шлема. Именно из-за этого М40 часто принимают за шлем модели M35. Основное отличие между этими двумя шлемами заключается в вентиляционном отверстии, которое выштамповывалось без установки в него дополнительной детали (заклепки с отверстием). Такой способ производства позволил сократить количество операций необходимых для изготовления шлема, что являлось немаловажным фактором эффективности производства в военное время. В связи с упрощением процесса изготовления шлема, небольшое изменение претерпела и форма шлема, которая стала более округлая, чем у М35.
Шлемы модели М40 окрашивались в стандартные цвета и имели, как правило, одну декаль, указывающее на принадлежность к соответствующим родам войск, за исключением шлемов СС, некоторые из которых могли по прежнему иметь две декали
